Spaces (interiors, exterior architecture)

Use perspective to construct rooms and buildings with consistent scale, layout, alignment, and depth.

What it is

Use perspective to construct rooms, corridors, plazas, and building exteriors. Set the viewer’s position and the space’s size, then relate the walls, floor, and ceiling to that structure.

In interiors, box in rooms, place doors and windows at consistent heights, and anchor furniture to the floor. Align tiles, floorboards, ceiling beams, and furniture rows to shared vanishing points.

In exteriors, block in building masses and add windows, doors, balconies, and rooflines around corners. Repeat floors, columns, and window grids so they shrink and space out as they recede. Step buildings forward or backward while maintaining the street’s structure.

Why it matters

This skill helps you stage characters, props, and lighting within a consistent space. Weak perspective control can produce odd wall angles, floating furniture, leaning buildings, and unclear scale or viewer position.
