Action and story clarity
Make the main action and story beat readable in a single image through staging, posing, and cause-and-effect cues.
What it is
Set one precise story beat for the image, such as the moment before impact, a reveal, an escape, or the quiet aftermath.
Use posing, expression, camera angle, and staging to support that beat. Show the action through readable silhouettes, body language, faces, props, and environmental context.
Organize overlapping actions so they remain distinct. Use movement direction, gaze lines, and perspective to show what caused the event and how characters respond.
Why it matters
Clear action and story help a keyframe communicate what happened, what matters, and how the characters and environment relate. Weak control can make figures merge with the background, props feel arbitrary, and emotion become difficult to read.
You can check it when
- ✓Describe the image's story beat in one sentence, then check that each major visual choice supports it.
- ✓View the image briefly without explanation and check whether the main character, action, and cause-and-effect relationship can be identified.
- ✓Flatten the figures to solid silhouettes and check whether each main action remains readable.
- ✓Remove text, UI, and lore, then check whether the trigger and consequence still make sense.
