Story moment selection (clear subject, clear action)
Choose one story instant with a clear subject and action, then organize the image around that beat.
What it is
Story moment selection is choosing the specific instant that communicates an event. You identify who the image is about, what they are doing, and when the action stops.
The selected moment may show the action beginning, reaching impact, or ending. Poses, props, and context should support that single beat without relying on a caption.
For example, a scene about a thief caught stealing might show a hand reaching into a pocket, eyes meeting, or a guard grabbing the thief’s wrist. Each choice creates a different story moment.
Why it matters
A specific story moment gives the composition a central action to support. Weak selection can leave characters standing without a readable action or suggest several possible events.
You can check it when
- ✓State the story moment in one sentence with a subject and action, then check that the image shows the same moment.
- ✓Create thumbnails for moments before, during, and after the action. Choose the version whose poses and key objects communicate one main event.
