Create a deliberate color and lighting scheme
Plan and maintain a consistent color and lighting scheme across a finished illustration.
What it is
This capstone combines value structure, local color, and invented lighting in one plan. You choose the key light, secondary lights, bounce light, and ambient light, then set each light's warm or cool temperature before rendering.
You re-test earlier skills by building value structure, assigning supporting colors, lighting forms from imagination, maintaining material behavior, and using one palette across the character, props, and environment.
You define a color key, meaning the scene's overall mood and temperature, and apply it across the image. You also predict how the scheme affects the full scene before rendering.
You can check it when
- ✓Describe the lighting setup and palette before painting, including light direction, intensity, color temperature, dominant colors, and accent colors. Compare the finished image with that description.
- ✓Check the character, props, and environment for consistent light direction, color, and shadow behavior. Confirm that the palette stays within the defined color key across the render.
