Production support (variations, callout sheets, floor-plan and orthographic awareness)
You prepare variations, callout sheets, floor plans, and orthographic views that help others build and reuse environment designs.
What it is
Production support makes environment designs usable by 3D artists, level designers, set builders, and other painters. Drawings and files answer build questions about placement, size, movement, repetition, and materials.
Variations show alternative versions of a location or set element, such as different layouts, dressing levels, times of day, damage states, or style passes. Callout sheets enlarge important details and label views, materials, moving parts, and construction notes.
Floor plans show spaces from above, including walls, doors, windows, stairs, furniture, and circulation paths. Orthographic views are straight-on, distortion-free front, side, or top views with aligned proportions. Both help keep locations and key elements consistent across drawings.
Why it matters
Production support gives other artists usable information for modeling, layout, construction, and reuse. Weak support can leave dimensions, navigation, materials, and continuity open to guesswork.
You can check it when
- ✓Create a top-down layout from one environment keyframe. Check that its doors, windows, furniture, and circulation paths match the perspective view.
- ✓Produce a callout sheet for a complex area with close-ups, front or side views where needed, and labels for materials, moving parts, or attachments.
- ✓Present at least 3 variations of the same room or location at a consistent angle and scale. Check that the differences in layout or function are readable.
- ✓Compare front, side, or near-orthographic views with the perspective scene. Check that the proportions remain consistent enough for the element to fit the original scene.
