Keyboard-shortcut efficiency
Use keyboard shortcuts by feel for common painting actions, keeping attention on drawing and color.
What it is
You trigger common actions such as undo, brush sizing, color picking, zooming, panning, tool switching, and quick saves from the keyboard without searching menus or icons.
You can combine these actions with painting: lay down a stroke, undo it, adjust brush size, sample a color, and continue while keeping your eyes on the canvas.
You customize shortcuts to match your painting habits. Frequently used actions, such as switching between detail and soft brushes or between brush and eraser, are assigned to accessible keys or tablet buttons.
Why it matters
Shortcut fluency reduces the time and attention spent operating the interface. Weak control can interrupt judgments about edge sharpness, hue, and value, which may limit how many options you test during a color or paint pass.
You can check it when
- ✓Paint for several minutes while undoing, resizing brushes, sampling colors, zooming, and panning without opening a menu or toolbar.
- ✓Assign or change shortcuts for frequently used actions, then use them without looking down or searching for their locations.
