Selections and transforms (perspective transform, warp, liquify)
Use selections, transforms, perspective warp, and liquify to adjust painted forms, placement, proportions, and surface graphics.
What it is
You use selections and transforms to move or reshape painted elements. This includes scaling a hand, rotating a form, repositioning a character, or correcting a building’s angle. Clean selections and feathered edges help the adjustment blend with surrounding paint.
Perspective transform and warp place flat graphics or painted elements onto 3D forms. You can fit a logo to a box, match a window frame to a building’s angle, or shape armor plates, wings, and cloth patterns to a form.
Liquify makes subtle adjustments directly to painted work. You can correct facial features, anatomy, proportions, or a pose late in the process while limiting stretched textures, melted edges, and other visible artifacts.
Why it matters
These tools reduce repainting when proportion, placement, or perspective needs correction. They also help graphics and patterns stay aligned with surfaces, while uncontrolled edits can create obvious distortion or uneven edges.
You can check it when
- ✓Isolate complex shapes such as hair, armor, or folded cloth, then move or scale them without jagged edges or visible cutout borders.
- ✓Place a flat graphic, decal, logo, or pattern on a 3D form using perspective transform or warp, and check that it follows the surface planes.
- ✓Use liquify to adjust anatomy or design while keeping edges, textures, and brushwork free of obvious distortion.
- ✓Review a finished piece and identify adjustments to composition, proportions, or pose made with selections and transforms.
