Exporting renders cleanly into Photoshop
Prepare 3D renders as clean, organized files that open in Photoshop ready for paintover.
What it is
You export 3D images in formats and settings that transfer reliably to Photoshop, such as PNG, TIFF, or EXR. You choose the needed resolution, color space, and bit depth.
You manage transparency, color profiles, and premultiplied alpha, which controls how alpha-channel edges blend. You check for the expected alpha channel and remove unwanted backgrounds or interface overlays.
You organize files with descriptive names and labeled folders for sequences and variants. When using multiple render passes, you include a clean beauty pass as the base image for Photoshop.
Why it matters
Clean exports provide a stable base for paintover. Weak export control can produce jagged edges, color or gamma shifts, dirty mattes, low-resolution files, baked-in gradients, or passes that do not align.
You can check it when
- ✓You place a render with a transparent background over different colors or photos in Photoshop, and its edges show no light or dark halos.
- ✓Your render opens in Photoshop with brightness, contrast, and saturation close to the render window. The file uses the planned resolution, and exported passes are named and organized for rebuilding the paintover base.
