Enrich (atmosphere, characters, organic elements)
Add atmosphere, character presence, and organic detail over a 3D base to develop a finished 2D–3D hybrid image.
What it is
Paint over a 3D base to add haze, light pockets, dust, smoke, rays, and subtle shadow color shifts. You control air density and visibility while keeping the base structure and major values.
Develop character presence by repainting expressions, body language, silhouettes, clothing folds, hair, props, and small behaviors. These additions communicate mood, intent, and personality beyond the posed model or stock asset.
Add variation to organic elements such as foliage, roots, erosion, stains, cracks, clutter, dripping water, and uneven ground. Break repeated assets and perfect edges with signs of weather and use, while preserving the 3D base as structural support.
Why it matters
This pass adds depth, character presence, and irregular detail to a 3D-supported image. Weak control can leave the render feeling empty or mechanical, with repeated foliage, synthetic surfaces, stiff characters, and uniform air and contrast.
You can check it when
- ✓Paint over a raw 3D render with atmosphere, character details, and organic variation while keeping its major shapes and values intact.
- ✓Check that distant elements soften and shift in color, close elements retain stronger presence, characters show distinct expressions or body language, and repeated assets include varied wear or detail.
