Clean line art over rough sketches

Redraw a rough sketch with clean, accurate lines that preserve its structure and can stand alone for coloring or handoff.

What it is

Clean line art redraws a rough sketch with deliberate strokes. It preserves the sketch’s structure and gesture while removing scratchy lines, corrections, and unclear marks.

You may lower the rough sketch’s opacity and draw over it on a new layer or fresh sheet. During this pass, you correct proportions, clarify overlapping forms, establish perspective, and define which shapes belong in the drawing.

The finished line art has consistent alignment, closed ellipses, parallel edges, and smooth contours. Construction lines can be removed while the image remains readable before color or shading.

Why it matters

Clean lines record drawing decisions for later color, light, or texture work. Weak control can leave proportions drifting, shapes unresolved, and details difficult to color or model accurately.
