Design a character that communicates role and personality
You can invent a character whose look alone tells you who they are, what they do, and roughly how they behave, without labels or backstory text.
What it is
This combines your figure construction, anatomy, gesture, and costume skills into one design that reads role and personality at a glance. Body type, posture, face, and gesture work with clothing and silhouette to signal profession, status, and temperament.
It draws on believable figures from imagination, dynamic posing, and costume and silhouette design — all aimed at making the character legible as, say, a “tired veteran healer” versus a “reckless rookie brawler,” without a word of text.
You can check it when
- ✓You can show the character to someone with no context, and they can guess role and basic personality from the visuals alone.
- ✓Your character lineup reads distinct personalities and roles even in flat silhouette and simple values — no text, dialogue, or effects needed.
